Finally after a short interval at the Auckland Technical Institute teaching Radio and electronic trainees, he took a break from the electronic world, and obtained a law degree from the Auckland University. During this period he worked as a law clerk in legal offices. On graduation, he joined a computer software company as an office manager. It did not take long to realize that computer programming was his ideal occupation. After a couple of years training he started his own software company specialising in custom design software programs. Many of those programs were based on accounting principles, giving him a good understanding of finance in general.
